Announcing support for Ubuntu 26.04 LTS

We’re happy to announce support for Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (“Resolute Raccoon”).

Ubuntu is the most popular Linux distribution used for running web servers. Ubuntu releases a Long-Term Support (LTS) version every two years. Ubuntu LTS releases are enterprise-grade and receive security updates from Ubuntu for five years. For Ubuntu 26.04, that means security updates through 2031.

Software versions on Ubuntu 26.04

MySQL 8.4

Ubuntu 26.04 includes MySQL 8.4, which focuses on greater stability, improved performance, and tighter security over MySQL 8.0.

Most applications that support MySQL 8.0 will work on MySQL 8.4 without any changes.

PHP 8.2+

ServerPilot supports PHP 8.2+ on Ubuntu 26.04.

If your application requires PHP 8.1 or earlier, you’ll need to keep using Ubuntu 24.04 until your apps are updated to support PHP 8.2+.

Cloud provider support for Ubuntu 26.04

You can connect Ubuntu 26.04 servers to ServerPilot as soon as your server provider makes Ubuntu 26.04 images available.

Enterprise cloud providers such as Google Cloud and AWS have images available for new Ubuntu versions immediately. Other cloud providers such as DigitalOcean usually have images available for new Ubuntu versions within a week of release.

Upgrade Ubuntu

Ubuntu versions earlier than Ubuntu 22.04 no longer receive security updates from Ubuntu. If you have a server running an older version such as Ubuntu 18.04 or 20.04, you should upgrade to at least Ubuntu 22.04.
