Getting Started with Domains and DNS Records

This series will guide you through adding domains to your apps and setting your DNS records to point to your server.

  1. Registering a domain is one of the first things you should do when you're ready to build a website.
  2. Adding domains to you app ensures web requests get forwarded correctly when they hit your server.
  3. Using subdomains with ServerPilot is exactly the same as any other domain name.
  4. To redirect all requests to a different domain name, create a .htaccess file in your app's web root directory.
  5. These tutorials show how the concepts to set your DNS records are similar across providers.
  6. Reverse DNS is controlled by your server provider and is not related to your domain's DNS.
  7. Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) are domain names that contain non-ASCII characters.
