How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication

With two-factor authentication (2FA), you can further secure your ServerPilot account.

ServerPilot supports Google Authenticator for two-factor authentication. To get started, first install the Google Authenticator app on your phone.

Once you've installed Google Authenticator, log in to ServerPilot and click 2-Step Auth on your Account page.

Then, enter your ServerPilot account password. You'll be shown a QR code.

Scan the QR code with the Google Authenticator app. You'll now see an entry for ServerPilot in Google Authenticator along with a six-digit code that changes every 30 seconds.

To enable two-factor auth for your Account, enter the current six-digit code you see in the Google Authenticator app into the confirmation box in ServerPilot.

If the confirmation code you entered wasn't accepted, re-enter your password in ServerPilot to attempt the confirmation again.

Once the confirmation code is accepted, two-factor authentication will be enabled for your account. From now on, you'll need to enter the code from your Google Authenticator app every time you log in to ServerPilot until 2FA is disabled.

Please make a note of your TOTP key (the string of characters under the QR code labeled "TOTP key:") as this will allow you to log into serverpilot in the event your phone is unavailable. Keep this information in a safe place because it is the same as having a valid Google Authenticator code.

Using Multiple Phones

If you have multiple phones you need to configure with Google Authenticator, you can view the current QR code by again clicking 2-Step Auth on your Account page in ServerPilot. Enter your password to view the current QR code.

Alternatively, you can record the TOTP key shown under the QR code and enter that TOTP manually in Google Authenticator on your additional phones. The TOTP key will remain the same until you disable two-factor authentication for your account.
